True or False? Male Masturbation Myths

Though doctors and scientists have agreed that masturbation is a common, natural practice for teenagers and sexually mature persons, social and religious rules projected the image of masturbation as a shameful act associated with embarrassment and guilt.

Trying to prevent young boys from masturbating, almost all societies have created their own myths about this practice, such as "if you masturbate, you'll go blind" or "if you masturbate you'll grow hair on your palms". Of course, no mature man will believe those, but there are other modern time myths that can fool you very easily.

Masturbating frequently will cause you to run out of semen

FALSE If in females, the number of eggs is limited, a man's testicles produce semen throughout his entire life. As long as your testicles are healthy, there is no way you will run out of sperm .

Masturbation can cause homosexuality

FALSE If every man who ever masturbated turned became gay, human race would have been extinct by now. Masturbation does not determine a person's sexual orientation. If a guy touches his own penis , it doesn't mean he would like to touch another man's!

Masturbation causes your testicles to shrink

FALSE It may seem so, right after you masturbate, because when you are aroused, blood flows into your testicles making them look bigger. Masturbating reduces testicle size to normal, but they won't be smaller than after the last time you masturbated.

Masturbation causes your penis to get smaller/shrink

FALSE It may seem so sometimes. Same explanation as above. On the other hand, if you imagine that it will help you get a bigger penis… you're wrong. Masturbation has no effect at all on penis size.

Masturbation makes you unable of being aroused by a woman

FALSE On the contrary, masturbating is a good way of finding out more about your own body, it won't make you less responsive to a woman's stimulation. Plus, you can learn how to postpone an ejaculation.

Only people who can't "get any" masturbate

FALSE Masturbation is a common practice within marriages too. Men who masturbate tend to have better better performances with a partner, since they know more about their own bodies.

You can get STD's from masturbating

IMPOSSIBLE There is, at least theoretically a chance that you can get an STD by practicing manual sex, that is, when you touch the partner's sexual organ with your hands, or when the partner touches yours. But the T in STD comes from "transmitted", which means the germ that causes the disease must come from the partner, not yourself. You cannot get an STD from playing with yourself.
