All You Wanted To Know About Penis Implants

A penis implant helps a man suffering from erectile dysfunction to return to an active and satisfying sexual life. It is a synthetic device that is placed in the penis to make the penis rigid enough to have sexual intercourse, without giving any change in penile sensation and orgasm. It also does not interfere with urination or ejaculation.

Penis implants were introduced in the 1970’s to treat men suffering from erectile dysfunction and especially where medications failed to treat them. The inflatable penis implants are also called hydraulic or inflatable implants, and are pumped to create erections and deflated when required. The semi rigid version usually keeps the penis firm at all times.

A description

The inflatable implant consists of a reservoir that is implanted in the abdomen, a pump with a deflation valve that is placed in the scrotum and a pair of cylinders that are implanted in the penis. This complete implant is hidden in the body.

On squeezing the inflation valve of the pump, a saline solution moves into the cylinders to replicate the natural process of blood flowing into the penis, to cause an erection when the cylinders inflate. Pressing the release valve on the pump helps deflate the implant.

Benefits

The benefit of using a penis implant is that it brings back an active and satisfying sexual life as it creates an erection required for sex. It proves to be a permanent and long term solution to treat erectile dysfunction as it is designed to feel natural for both you and your partner.

As the penis implant permits spontaneity, you can have sex when you want, for as long as you want. Once you have the penis implant put in, you don’t have to spend money on expensive pills or shots as it is reliable and works at every time.

Disadvantages

There are some disadvantages to the penis implant such as the surgery and healing period involved with it. Some people may suffer from allergic reactions while some may lose the ability of getting a natural erection. Some people suffer from edema as the healing process or suffer from infection or any other complications associated with any surgery.

Despite all these disadvantages, partners of men who have penis implants say that they are satisfied with its results. A penis implant is implanted through a complex and permanent surgery, where there is a risk of infection and the malfunctioning of the device.

However, since the inception of penis implants, new materials, design and surgical procedures have been developed with a reduction in infection and its malfunctioning. And though penis implant surgery may be expensive, it is covered by Medicare and other forms of insurance.
