9 Reasons for Not Using Phalloplasty
Phalloplasty or penis enlargement surgery is a surgery used to help men develop larger penises. It is done in two ways; through girth enlargement and penis
lengthening for improved length and girth of the penis respectively. However, although phalloplasty seems to be effective in improving penile length, there
are many reasons to avoid it.
1. The cost of a phalloplasty can be anything from $40,000 to $150,000 depending on the doctor, and any complications that may arise from it.
The procedure is not covered by most insurance, so you will not get any compensation for its expenses.
2. Usually phalloplasty requires numerous surgeries for its successful completion. This leads to more pain, more recovery time and of course,
additional scarring on the penis.
3. It is possible to retain clitoral sensation with phalloplasty. However it is possible that the microsurgical nerve hookup will fail to leave
you with a non-sensational penis.
4. Whatever approach you use in phalloplasty, it can lead to intense scarring. Some surgeons may perform skin grafts to cover these scars which
may lead to additional numbness and loss of function. The donor site also experiences numbness and loss of function with any nerve damage that takes place.
5. Phalloplasty may not help you get the penis of the shape and size you are looking for. A phalloplasty may make your penis look too big and unnatural for comfort.
Sometimes, the penis ends up pointing in an awkward position making intercourse painful and difficult.
6. There are various potential complications that may arise with phalloplasty like extrusion of testicular implants, formation of fistulas or strictures in the
new urethral passage and of course, infection.
7. There are also the usual risks of surgery like excessive bleeding, anesthesia problems, infections, blood clotting and in rare cases, even death.
8. There is no lazy recovery period associated with phalloplasty as you have to start training for a minimum of six months to reach the best results of the surgery.
9. And remember, you have to avoid sexual activity completely for a few weeks after surgery.
With so many risks and complications associated with phalloplasty it would be better to think twice before you consider phalloplasty.
A better and safer option for a bigger penis would be male enhancement exercises and exercises to increase penile blood flow.
